June-Birth Story

At my 37 week appointment I found out Dr Edmunds was going to be gone around my due date from June 15th through the 19th. I was so sad because he was such an amazing doctor and I knew that in his care everything would go great. He offered to induce me at 39 weeks so he could deliver the baby but I wasn't quite sure that was what I wanted to do. So after that appointment I went home and thought about it. I really like just letting the baby come when they want and not just picking their birthday which feels weird to me. My biggest fear was going into labor while he was gone and having a random Dr deliver and be in a similar situation to what I was with Kenley. I decided to not think too much about it and just see what the 38 week appointment brought. At my 38 week appointment I was dilated to a 2 and effaced. I decided to schedule the induction because he said I could always cancel it no big deal. Right before that doctor's appointment as I was parking the car I found out that Stacy passed away which is really shocking but the last few weeks of her life we're really hard for her and everyone. So at  my doctor's appointment I had high blood pressure which we figured was just a fluke given the news I just got. I spent the rest of week 38 going back and forth about being induced and really stressing about it. Trying to get people's opinions and experiences from being induced. One of my biggest fears was if  something ended up being wrong with the baby I would always blame myself for forcing it to come early, but I was also so anxious about not having Dr. Edmunds there. Going into week 39 I went to that appointment 6 / 12 pretty sure that I was going to choose to not be induced  and just get as much info as I could on the doctors who were on call while he was gone. While still hoping that I wouldn't go into labor until after he got back. I had so much anxiety about choosing whether or not to be induce and it was a really hard choice for me. At my appointment my blood pressure was still high and because of that Dr. Edmunds really suggested that being induced might be the best option just in case my blood pressure continued  to rise for third week in a  row. Hearing that news I decided to keep my induction  and felt really peaceful about it. I was
going to have a baby tomorrow which was exciting and nerve-wracking but I really felt okay about it that night I wanted to go out to dinner as a family so we went to Cheesecake Factory and had a little family date night with Kenley. I had a lot of anxiety and worry about her feeling left out and  not getting all the attention like she was used to it really made me kind of sad just knowing her life would change and the time of just me and her about to end. We had a little family sleepover in our bed. I set my alarm  for 6.we had to be at the hospital at 7:30 the  but I think I woke up at 5 a.m. because I couldn't sleep. My mom came up to stay with Kenley and we arrived at the hospital at 7:30. Things are about to get real. We got all checked in and got into a room where I met my nurse Emily and found out she would be with me until her shift ended at 7. She was really the only nurse or person in there besides my doctor when he would come in which was nice and definitely different than Lakeview. I think around 9:30 or 10 they got me on Pitocin and every 30 minutes would turn it up for up. A  little before noon doctor Edmunds came and asked me about my epidural and breaking my water. He recommended getting the epidurall first and then he would come break my water on his lunch. The anesthesiologist ended up taking a little bit longer to come because they were people who are more in pain than me and freaking out more than I was. So I didn't get my epidural until probably around 3. The worst part of the epidural was the numbing shots and the fact that I had to slump over while the baby's foot was in my rib. But other than that everything went great shortly after that Dr.Edmunds came and broke my water I was kind of nervous but it wasn't a big deal. After about an hour and a half the contractions were really strong and I could feel them a lot, they asked me if I wanted to redose of my epidural and I was nervous that it would make me feel completely numb but the contractions were bad enough that I decided to get it and I'm really glad I did. After the redose they checked me again and found out I was dilated to a 10 which it explain to the intense contractions. Id gone from like a three and a half to a ten in an hour and a half. The redose definitely made my legs feel heavier and my right leg which more numb but by the time my doctor was in and I was ready to push had worn off enough that I could still feel the start of contractions and could also feel if I was pushing the right way. Emily was super helpful and would encourage me when I was pushing the right way and would also count out for pushes with me. My doctor is super awesome and was able to slow things down to minimize any tearing. Unfortunately because of my past and Kenley's delivery he had prepared me that most likely I would tear. But it was a thousand times better than last time . I was able to do immediate skin-to-skin right after Kelly announced that it was a girl which was super surprising to us all. We both, along with the Drs and nurses thought it was going to be a boy. It was such a great experience to actually be able to be a part of the birth verses being in pain the whole time and crying. Getting to hold her was super special. She pooped on me while I was holding her which was funny and I didn't even notice at the time. Kenley came in and got some time with her new baby sister. She was really sweet and when the nurse had to take the baby and give her shots Kenley was super concerned and did not approve of them giving her shots. Eventually my family came in for a while and held her than ran and got food since the cafeteria was closed. Cafe Rio, Yum. Kelly took Kenley home for the night so she wouldn't feel left out. She was really upset to leave me in the hospital and cried the whole way home.
The next day Kelly's family came for a little bit but unfortunately baby girl had jaundice (coombs positive-our bloods didn't get along) So I was unable to go home Wednesday and the only time I could hold her was when feeding her.By Thursday her jaundice levels were better and we were able to go home. We hadn't 100% agreed on a name (since we were expecting a boy) so she left the hospital without a name which we later decided on Delaney Stacy Farmer

April 2017

4/15- "happy easter mom""happy Christmas, Happy Valentines"
4/23-talking to her and trying to let her know when this baby is born ill always love you so much. She just looks at me " my baby comes out when I go ice skating"

Kenleys birthday month. On her actual birthday we had planned to take her to the aquarium and go to panda express. Stacy ended up having a very bad day so Kelly went there straight from work. We headed up there for a bit then I took Kenley to boondocks where we did bowling and arcade games. She had a lot of fun and we were out late. I seriously love my time with her. We did the aquarium the next day. She had been wanting to try the fish pedicures  since we got the aquarium pass  and wekept telling her she could do it on her birthday .  So we let her do it and she liked it for about 10 seconds  just like I thought she would .  Walking through the aquarium  she saw a tornado simulator  and wanted to do it .  I knew she would hate it so we told her not today  and she turned to us and said" but for my birthday."  Of course we had to let her do it  and of course she hated it  it was pretty funny . She got a birthday week. She asked for a party with friends and wanted a pink cake with diamonds. She had a lot of fun at her party. We had games and face painting. Mostly the kids just ran around and played. It was a good day. We spent a lot of time in April with Kelly's family as Stacy's health declined.

Funny Things Kenley Says:
Kelly was tossing K onto the bed into a pile of blankets and pillows. He said "We need more pillows, lets add the pillows that are just for show." (decorative pillows) Kenley replied "yeah and ones for ciera too!" To her show pillows = Chanelle pillows.
Kelly was going to the priesthood session of general conf. I told K he was going to have a boys night then asked her what we were having(girls night) " a baby sister!"
Disneyland! A present from Christmas/an excuse to go to Disneyland. It was such a great experience and doing the princess lunch was completely worth it. She loved meeting characters and did so good both days at Disney. We stayed in Vegas on our way down and went to a cirque show. Kenley did really well and at one point got super excited saying "wow so beautiful,  thats so cool"
My Grandpa Allred passed away and his funeral was at the end of our California trip. I bought a plane ticket home and stayed a few extra days. All my siblings were able to come which was nice to get to be together and be there for my Mom.
For Kelly's birthday our plan was to go camping but it rained lots of weekends so instead we set the tent up inside, made s'mores and watched petes dragon.

2017 January

Kenley in her play kitchen. Takes off her clothes, brings over a giant bowl and asks if she can please pee In it.
Kenley just told me mom we need to go to the exercise. You play with the the toys and watch me get strong muscles.
We started off the New Year with the Nordfelts at their annual new years party. This years theme: Black and White. 5 of the wives there were pregnant which was kind of funny. Kenley from day one has said shes getting a baby brother. We will see. Kenley is still super into makeup-eyebrows and lips. Her favorite food is noodles from panda. she stole some "duckses" from nursery...it was hilarious. she cut her hair. After months of asking I let her try on my wedding dress
We did two aquarium trips to sea quest. One with the Farmer family and once just our family where Kenley met a mermaid and fed the birds.
